Brad Horvath, Head of Acquisitions and Domestic Sales (Ouat Media)
Brad manages international film acquisitions and North American sales for
Ouat Media. Before joining the team, he directed and produced short and
contemporary dance films, music videos and documentaries that have been
licensed to television broadcasters and invited to screen at film
festivals around the world. He has also produced theatre, a television
series and associate produced two feature films. He is a regular
contributor to Indiewire's blog network and is a frequent speaker at
film festivals, industry panels, workshops and events. He has a Bachelor
of Science (Psychology) degree from Dalhousie University, with
concentrated studies in Film.
Linda Fong, Independent Production Officer (TVO)
As TVO's Independent Production Officer, Linda Fong works with
Commissioning Editor Jane Jankovic, programming the network's
award-winning Canadian POV documentary anthology series. Recent
commissions include Smoke Traders, A Sorry State and The Defector.
Prior to joining TVO in 2004, Linda worked at the National Film Board
of Canada in Marketing and Distribution.
Magali Simard, Short Cuts Canada Programmer (TIFF)
Magali Simard is the Senior Coordinator of Film Programmes working on New
Releases, TIFF Cinematheque, Canada’s Top Ten, and ongoing series at
TIFF Bell Lightbox. She also sits on the programming teams for the
Toronto International Film Festival’s Short Cuts Canada programme and
TIFF’s Student Film Showcase. She has been a jury member for the Alberta
Film and Television Awards since 2009, was on the short film jury for
the 2010 Outfest in Los Angeles, acted as a guest programmer for the
2011 Perceides Festival, and served on the jury for the 2012 Berlinale
Teddy Awards.
Paritosh Mehta, Director, Independent Production Development (Rogers Media)
Paritosh Mehta joined OMNI Television, a division of Rogers Media Inc. and one
of Canada’s largest integrated media organizations in December 1998. As
Director of Independent Production Development, Paritosh is responsible
for directing original programming from 28 community groups, enforcing
compliance with OMNI’s licensing commitments, and managing the overall
budget and contract management function for independent productions.
Prior to OMNI, Paritosh also worked at Vision TV.
David Wu, Director (Cold Steel)
David is a prolific director, editor, producer, actor and writer who first
established his name as a creative force in his native Hong Kong before
bringing his impressive talents to the North American film and
television industry. Wu has teamed with long-time collaborator John Woo
on action classics including A Better Tomorrow and Hard Boiled and Woo’s television series Once a Thief, as both editor and director. Recently, he has helmed many TV series and directed and edited Plague City, a CTV feature movie about the SARS epidemic in Toronto, for which he was nominated for Best Director at the 2006 DGC Awards.
Frank Manzo, Account Manager, TV & Motion Picture Group (National Bank)
With 10 years working in Canadian production financing in Canada, Frank has administered Ontario’s film & TV tax credits, as well as having managed Corus Entertainment’s Production Finance team responsible for all internal production financing. Frank currently is an Account Manager with National Bank’s TV & Motion Picture Group. The mission of the National Bank's TV and Motion Picture Group is to offer a wide range of made-to-measure banking products and services to the Canadian film, TV, multimedia, video game, and entertainment production and distribution industries. The team specializes in financing large-scale projects in the entertainment industry and has a clientele ranging from producers, distributors and film studios to post-production, special effects and equipment leasing companies.
Polly Beel, Director of Kids & Family (Phase 4 Films)
Polly Beel is the Director of Kids and Family at Phase 4 Films, which distributes
feature films and special interest content across all traditional theatrical
and new media platforms in North America (including Kevin Smith’s Canadian tour
of RED STATE, VALENTINO: THE LAST EMPEROR). She oversees Phase 4 Films’ family
label, kaboom! Entertainment, which distributes all Treehouse-branded and kids
label, home entertainment for Canada and all family features, which includes episodic
properties, feature animations and live action features (THE JUNGLE BOOK, HORRID
HENRY and THE GRUFFALO).
Chi-hui Yang, Film Programmer
Chi-hui Yang is a film programmer, lecturer and writer based in New York. As a guest curator, Yang has presented series at film festivals and events internationally, including the MOMA Documentary Fortnight and the Robert Flaherty Film Seminar. From 2000-2010 he was the Director and Programmer of the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival. Yang is also the programmer of “Cinema Asian America,” a VOD service offered by Comcast and a Visiting Scholar at New York University’s Asian/Pacific/American Institute
Anderson Le, Director of Programming (Hawaii International Film Festival)
Splitting his time between Los Angeles and Honolulu, Anderson Le has
worked diligently in the global promotion of independent and world
cinema as director of programming for the Hawaii International Film
Festival (HIFF), which is now heading into its 32nd year. In addition
to his duties at HIFF, Le also serves as Festival artistic director
for the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. In addition, he is a
curator for the YOMYOMF Network, headed by Hollywood director Justin
Lin, YouTube stars Ryan Higa, Kevin Wu and Chester See
Gary Chou, Executive Producer (Daylight Savings), General Manager (Union Square Ventures Network)
In addition to being Executive Producer of SURROGATE VALENTINE and DAYLIGHT SAVINGS, two films by Dave Boyle featuring Goh Nakamura that premiered at SXSW in 2011 and 2012, Gary Chou works at Union Square Ventures, an NYC-based venture capital firm that has invested in large online networks like Twitter, Tumblr, Etsy, SoundCloud and Kickstarter. Over the past decade he has held product development and design positions at Trilogy, Tribe.net and Cisco, building web applications for both consumers and enterprise customers. He also co-teaches the Entrepreneurial Design course at the School of Visual Arts Masters in Interaction Design program.
Nancy Yu, Publicity & Promotions (NYU Communications)
Nancy is a seasoned Publicist and Promotions professional in Film, TV and Music. She has worked with an international and domestic slate of artists and filmmakers to maximize their coverage in the Canadian marketplace at past and present companies including Alliance Films, V Kelly & Associates, Canadian Film Centre, Architect Films Inc., The Global Enrichment Foundation, GATPR, 20th Century Fox, Fox Searchlight, Virgin Music Canada, ATV Music Publishing and Nettwerk Music Group. Nancy has also worked on various festivals and events for clients such as the Toronto International Film Festival, Hot Docs International Film Festival, Toronto Film Critics Awards, 32nd Genie Awards, Cinefranco Film Festival, Worldwide Short Film Festival, Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival, Toronto Just for Laughs, Lilith Fair Canada and Canadian International Music Week.
